A/Z managed upgrades of one of Brown University’s seven regional cooling districts. The chillers located in the Watson Center for Information Technology (CIT) chillers were beyond their service lives, and it was A/Z’s role to coordinate the upgrade and modernization of these systems to improve the functionality of the MacMillan Cooling District as a centralized chilled water system. The project was coordinated closely with Brown University and the City of Providence to ensure that the major upgrades to the system did not impact the year-round operations of the campus and of the surrounding urban community. The upgraded chiller systems and associated controls are now playing a key role in supporting the future campus improvement plans of Brown University.
