Wesleyan University partnered with A/Z to implement a microgrid solution, which represents a critical step towards energy independence for the campus. A 680 kW CHP system installed within Freeman Athletic Center allows the facility to serve as an emergency shelter for the campus and surrounding community as well as a FEMA distribution center. The microgrid is a milestone for both the university and the State of Connecticut. The Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP)-sponsored project is the first of its kind in the state. Governor Dannel Malloy was present to inaugurate the landmark event.
