With new technological advancements in single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and increased demands in patient care, Lawrence + Memorial Hospital realized the need for a new modernized area for true 3D diagnosis. A/Z was selected to provide mechanical, civil, and electrical services to install the world’s first intelligent SPECT. The renovations required construction of an interim Nuclear Medicine Suite, allowing the hospital staff to treat patients without disruption. A/Z relocated a hot lab, lead-lined equipment storage, and injection room. The 2,000 sf project encompassed complete demolition of the existing Nuclear Medicine Suite as well as the construction of a new injection room, hot lab, control room, staff room, outpatient / inpatient waiting rooms, and technician offices. Installation of new flooring, walls, lighting, specialty finishes, and new casework completed the facade of the space. Along with the renovations of the Nuclear Medicine Suite, A/Z also provided all of the structural, electrical, and HVAC requirements for the Siemens Symbia T6 IQ-SPECT system.
