Great job, team!
As a supervisor, check-ins throughout the day matter. A simple “How’s it going?” helps you gauge a team member’s workload, confidence, and understanding of the work. It can also give insight into any personal stressors they may be carrying — family, health, or anything else weighing down their “backpack” that day.
Helps Identify Issues Early: Quick check-ins encourage TMs to raise concerns—hazards, material shortages, or unclear instructions—so you can address them before they lead to rework, delays, or injuries.
Reinforces Safety Awareness: Encourages TMs to stop and assess their environment, increasing awareness and surfacing safety concerns.
Boosts Morale: Taking time to connect shows TMs they matter—boosting morale, motivation, pride, and engagement.
Strengthens Communication: These simple interactions build trust for TMs to speak up and create a culture where communication flows more easily, and problems are addressed faster.
Fit for Duty: Use these check-ins to gauge readiness and safety. If something seems off, speak privately and remove from safety-sensitive work if needed—then contact HR.
Connect with each TM at least once a day with a simple, “How’s it going?” Ask a follow-up question if needed and build it into your regular walk-throughs. The intent isn’t long conversations—it’s creating a consistent touchpoint that supports safe, productive, high-quality work. If personal concerns come up, you can refer them to Lyra Health as a helpful resource.
Key Takeaway: Consistent check-ins build trust, surface concerns early, and help prevent small issues from becoming safety risks.
Harsh acceleration is currently our biggest focus area for improving driver performance. However, it’s important to remember that acceleration, braking, and cornering are all measured as part of our driver safety metrics. By maintaining smooth acceleration, gradual braking, and controlled cornering, we can reduce vehicle wear, improve safety, and support better overall driving performance. Let’s keep safety and smooth driving in mind every time we get behind the wheel. 👍
