The City of New Britain and the New Britain Police Department identified a passive optical network (PON) system as the next step in building a fast, reliable, and cost-effective telecommunications system for the police headquarters. Our team members were responsible for overseeing the implementation of a gigabit PON solution for the facility that would be an invaluable part of the city’s emergency services, interfacing with the 911 center and radio dispatch systems. The enhanced network was also configured to connect with the New Britain EMS headquarters, the nearby Hospital of Central Connecticut, and the New Britain City Hall. The scope and scale of this project made a comprehensive design and highly controlled implementation absolutely vital to ensuring that ongoing services were not interrupted. With the success of the project, the police department and the interconnected entities are enjoying state-of-the-art fiber communications that offers both speed and expandability.
