The Fort Graduate Housing Complete

Williams College engaged A/Z to serve as its design-build lead for the renovation of The Fort, its graduate housing facility. Originally built in the 1930s, The Fort underwent major mechanical and electrical upgrades to attain ambitious energy efficiency objectives; these include anticipated LEED Gold certification as well as three petals of the International Living Future Institute’s Living Building Challenge.

The historic facility also received an array of restoration work, code improvements, and finish upgrades along with the addition of an elevator. It is comprised of 14 bedrooms as well as a living room, dining room, kitchen, and study. Ancillary spaces include student storage, indoor bike storage, laundry, and recycling areas.
