Following its original construction in 1894, the Westerly Public Library has been a staple of the seaside community. The façade of the building, which is comprised of the original brick masonry, was repaired and a new entrance and stairway were constructed. Historically sensitive renovations were conducted throughout the interior of the library as well. For example, the primary reading room underwent a major restoration that included ornate millwork, restored casework, a granite hearth, and stained glass. The program was designed by Tappe Associates.
