A/Z was selected to provide construction management services for the renovation of Building 100 on Pfizer’s 160-acre Groton, CT R&D campus. The goal of this initiative was to reconfigure an existing high-potency weigh area within the facility into a regulated, multi-use clean room environment. The project team would have to manage a number of critical logistical considerations in order to make this renovation a success. For example, Building 100 is used for the manufacture, storage, and distribution of a number of controlled pharmaceutical products. Accordingly, portions of the facility are designed and operated within U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requirements. The renovations to the weigh area were conducted in close coordination with Pfizer personnel to maintain the integrity of the secure environment. Additionally, the renovations to the suite took place directly in the middle of a cGMP quality control, logistics, and storage area of the facility.
