During Sanofi’s Biologics Manufacturing Facility Shutdown in Canton, MA, A/Z was engaged to support this important assignment. This facility, which makes extensive use of single-use disposable (SUD) manufacturing technologies, entered into a narrow three-week shutdown window to execute a number of critical projects. A bioreactor relocation was required, which involved moving bioreactor skids and tanks from an existing laboratory to pilot plant space located within the facility. Detailed elevations and the labeling of piping, air lines, and instrument cabling were conducted before the process equipment was disconnected. A number of other critical projects that could only be completed during the shutdown were also successfully executed. These included the installation of a new twin alternating dealkalizer skid; upgrades / repairs to the facility’s boiler and steam lines; and the installation of a chilled water bypass.
