Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) elected to install a fuel cell power plant on its campus to fulfill its needs for environmentally friendly on-site power and increased energy savings. A/Z was selected by FuelCell Energy to lead the design and construction of a 1.4 MW fuel cell combined heat and power solution. The unit was tied into the water and sanitary sewer connections as well as campus gas, electrical, and steam utilities. The locally manufactured plant is expected to save CCSU approximately $100,000 per year in energy costs.
