As part of the $81 million, 310,000 sf phased renovation to Naugatuck High School, A/Z’s expertise was called upon for the design and configuration of the facility’s network infrastructure. With the goals to give students and faculty fast and reliable access to modern resources along with flexibility for future expansion, a passive optical network (PON) was identified as an ideal solution. A/Z’s Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDDs) worked with the project team to develop a system that would comprehensively fulfill these goals. The design included redundant 10 GB uplinks to the high school’s core switch along with 1 GB backbones to classroom and desktop locations. In addition to overseeing the design, A/Z also supported the setup and startup of all associated network equipment to ensure that the installations would provide the school with robust and reliable connectivity.
