Pfizer engaged A/Z to provide construction management services for the renovation of approximately 20,000 sf of their Research Technology Center (RTC) in Cambridge, MA. The critical nature of this facility necessitated that many areas remain operational and occupied during construction, which made coordination between facilities personnel and A/Z’s team a key component. Once temporary protection measures and a comprehensive site logistics plan were in place, the project began with a phase of selective demolition that removed existing laboratories and offices on the first floor. The scope of work encompassed the reconfiguration of the electrical, HVAC, and fire protection systems within the numerous tissue culture laboratories and cold rooms. Additionally, the team was responsible for installing flooring, ceilings, finish work and furnishings required to prepare the offices, security area, conference rooms, and work areas within the facility for occupancy.
