A/Z oversaw the renovation of the Founders Hall Allied Health and Nursing facility at Naugatuck Community College. Founders Hall and an adjacent annex building were constructed in the 1960s. The project team was responsible for executing a complete renovation of 85,000 sf of facilities, which included the demolition of an existing one-story wing on the south side and the construction of a new three-story addition of approximately 26,000 sf in its place.

The renovations created a state-of-the-art teaching and training facility that addresses the state’s critical shortage of qualified nurses and promotes other healthcare-based career opportunities. The renovated building features general purpose classrooms with technology-based teaching systems, along with large, well-equipped laboratories with resources for simulated learning that can be used by all disciplines, a mixture of large and small classrooms, conference rooms, gathering spaces for group study, and faculty offices that provide for tutoring and advising.
