Modernizing & Preserving the Historic Gateway to the Williams College Campus

Set near the campus entrance, the iconic 1930s era Fort Hoosac is a distinctive gateway to Williams College.

We are pleased to announce that A/Z and our design-build partner MCWB Architecture were selected by Williams College to renovate the Fort Hoosac student housing facility on its Williamstown, MA campus.

Set near the campus entrance, the iconic 1930s era building is a distinctive gateway to Williams College. The College’s intended improvements are oriented around incorporating modern, environmentally sound design and construction practices, providing access for people of all abilities, and maintaining the classic beauty and elegance of the original design.

Williams College’s commitment to sustainable operations will take center stage during this project. While the precise sustainability approach and certification strategy remain under consideration, the College and the project team are committed to incorporate highly efficient thermal envelope and environmental systems into the project.

The design-build team is excited to leverage complementary experience at both the Williams College campus and other leading academic institutions to design and execute a first-class project for the College community.
